Rigging a wooden toy box. Parent , Orient, Point and locators have been used in order to be able to make the caterpillar move from rotation of the control crank. The control crank rotates along with the shaft which in turns rotate the Cam which appear to make the follower move up and down and from the follower goes the caterpillar parts moving up and down.
Point constraint used on the follower(parent) and the body part(child).
For Cam and the locator parent constraint has been used .
On the left side in the outline we can see the constraints that have been applied to the Cam, shaft and Follower. Shaft controls Cam by orient constraint, Follower is controlled by point constraint.
Control crank is the parent and when rotated all other pieces start to work and final result give the up and down movement of the catepillar.
Master control enables to scale, rotate and move the whole wooden toy box anywhere in the scene.
